The many SoC and DeviceTree updates have now been merged for the Linux 6.15 kernel merge window. There’s a lot on the ARM hardware side plus some additions for RISC-V and various interesting new device/board additions.
Some of the SoC/DT additions with the mainline Linux 6.15 kernel include:
- DeviceTree additions for the Arm Morello reference platform for booting in AArch64 mode. Arm Morello is notable for having experimental CHERI ISA support albeit that usage requires a modified/experimental kernel.
- Support for the new AMD Versal NET SoC that combines an FPGA with Arm Cortex-A78 cores for HPC, networking, AI, and other workloads.
- Support for six new ST STM32MP2 SoC variants.
- Support for the MediaTek MT8370 SoC as an MT8390 variant
- Support for the Apple T2 security co-processor / baseboard management controller on older Apple devices still relying on Intel CPUs.
- Support for the Milk-V Jupiter board that uses a SpacemiT K1/M2 RISC-V SoC.
- Support for the NetCube Systems Kumquat board with Allwiner V3s SoC.
- Mainline DT support for the Google Pixel Pro 6 smartphone.
- Mainline support for the MNT Reform 2 laptop, the ~€1,250.00 open-source modular laptop powered by a Rockchip SoC.
