Firefox 137 Release Brings VA-API Accelerated H.265 On Linux

The Mozilla Firefox 137 release binaries are now available ahead of the official release set for Tuesday.

Most exciting with Firefox 137 for Linux users is now supporting HEVC/H.265 with the Video Acceleration API. For those using the Mesa VA Gallium3D state tracker like the Radeon graphics, the Intel VA-API driver, the NVIDIA VA-API conversion code, or similar Video Acceleration API implementations can now enjoy accelerated H.265/HEVC content with Firefox on Linux.

Firefox 137 also adds text-decoration-line CSS property support for spelling-error and grammar-error conditions, new JavaScript APIs, SVG additions, and various other changes. See Firefox 137 for developers for more background information.
