For those intrigued by Jolla’s Linux-based Sailfish OS mobile phone operating system, Sailfish OS 5.0 is officially out today as the latest iteration of this software stack.
Sailfish OS 5.0 is now rolling out to all supported devices. Sailfish OS 5.0 delivers an updated version of the Gecko web engine for its browser, Android app compatibility support is updated against Android 13, and there is microG 0.3.6 that enables opt-in support for Android apps dependent upon Google services.
Sailfish OS 5.0 also brings support for the WireGuard VPN, a new landscape mode for the home view and other elements, call blocking capability, and support for the Jolla C2 and Mind2 are now built into the system.
